In a friendly game in the back room of the VFW hall. I had been sitting quitely for about two hours mostly folding but had managed to just about double up. These pots are usually small. Less than $50 but, when they get big they get big in a hurry. Of course I've had my share of bad beats and, losing nights so, I never put more than $200 on the table just in case I have to call an all in. My best hand started out as one of the worst I've seen. I had 5h3h in the small blind. Fortunately there was no raise preflop and, I was able to see the flop cheap. With 6 having called the big blind. To my utter disbelieve the flop came Ah 2h 4h. Not wanting to scare away the action I simply checked. There was a bet of about half the pot made by player in third position. Everyone called. On the turn a 4d. I bet the pot with 4 callers. Now there's close to $500 in the pot and, I'm reaching into my pocket to get my $200 reserve. The river was a meaningless 8 of spades. Of course I was all in and, all four followed me to the river. It was the perfect storm. Two turned over full boats fours over Aces. One turned over the flush and, another showed the straight 5 high. I showed the straight flush. I walked away with close to $1500. Needless to say a couple of them were pretty upset but, all was set right with a couple of rounds of drinks.
